{"id":72,"date":"2008-10-26T08:56:00","date_gmt":"2008-10-26T08:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/willemkossen.nl\/b\/?p=72"},"modified":"2022-10-18T13:11:05","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T13:11:05","slug":"time-well-spent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/willemkossen.nl\/b\/?p=72","title":{"rendered":"Time Well Spent"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you\u2019ve been here before, You\u2019ll notice a difference\u2026 SPEED\u2026 well, I moved my&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20081101131027\/http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Website\">websites<\/a>&nbsp;and blogs to a new&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Machine\">machine<\/a>&nbsp;and that helps a lot. This also means that the previous post is now obsolete. In fact, it\u2019s obsolete for more than one reason\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. The websites now run on a&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mini-ITX\">mini-itx<\/a>&nbsp;formfactor&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Server_%28computing%29\">server<\/a>&nbsp;with 1 GB of mem, so we have spead, yet we save some energy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. The number of visitors grew since I started using entrecard as&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Traffic_exchange\">traffic exchange<\/a>&nbsp;mechanism (which also resulted in me finding a number of pretty cool sites to follow\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. I now have 2 machines running 24\/7, so even though they\u2019re both low&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Power_consumption\">energy consumption<\/a>&nbsp;machines, the energy consumption has gone up\u2026 Not so green anymore, but at least I can support my guests with a better service\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.
